I'm Yurii Korotun — a professional street skateboarder, a World Skate tour competitor for Ukraine, and a certified teacher with a degree in pedagogy. After 19 years on a board and a few hundred kids taught across Europe, I'm bringing all of it to California.

No. Boards, helmets, knee pads and elbow pads are provided for every session, so you can turn up with nothing but comfortable clothes and flat shoes. Once you know you enjoy it, a lesson also covers how to choose a board and what to check on it before you buy.
Private one-on-one coaching is $100 for a 60 minute session and $140 for 90 minutes. Four-session packs bring that down to $360 and $500. Sharing a session is cheaper again: $70 per person for two students, $55 each for three, and $45 each for groups of four to six. First-time students can start with a $75 trial session. All prices are in US dollars and include boards, helmets and pads.
Yes. A first lesson is $75 instead of $100 — the same 60 minutes of one-on-one coaching, at an introductory rate. It is limited to one session per student and only open to people who have not trained with me before, so treat it as a way to find out whether skating is for you rather than as a standing price.
Yes. Four 60 minute sessions bought one at a time come to $400; as a pack they are $360, so you save $40. Four 90 minute sessions are $560 separately against $500 as a pack, a saving of $60. A pack is four sessions of the same length, booked in advance.
That is exactly what the semi-private rate is for. Two students are $70 each, which is $140 total; three are $55 each, $165 total; and a group of four to six is $45 per person. Everyone skates in the same session with the same coach, which is why it works out well below the one-on-one rate per person.
Lessons run at skateparks across the Los Angeles area, including Santa Monica, West Hollywood, Culver City, Silver Lake, Echo Park, Pasadena, Glendale and the surrounding neighborhoods. Tell me where you are when you get in touch and we will find the closest park that suits your level.
Both. Every session is built around whoever is on the board, and semi-private groups are put together so that people learn alongside others at their own stage. Plenty of adults start from zero — it is a much more common way to begin than people expect.
Yes, that is exactly who it is for. The beginner course starts before the board does: choosing and checking equipment, then pushing, turning, stopping and — importantly — how to fall safely. From there it moves on to balance work, skatepark etiquette and the vocabulary, so you can skate with other people without feeling lost.
Yurii is a professional street skateboarder with 19 years of experience who has represented Ukraine on the World Skate tour in Rome, Lausanne, Tokyo and Sharjah — all Olympic qualification stages. He also holds a bachelor's degree in pedagogy and is a certified teacher of English and Spanish, with classroom practice across school grades 1 to 11.
English, German, Spanish, Ukrainian and Russian. That matters more than it sounds for a first lesson — being able to explain a trick in someone's own language is usually the difference between them landing it and giving up on it.
